A note about Technique vs. Tactics.
I've been asked several times
why at Reliant we focus on teaching technique, not tactics.
It’s simple, tactics are constantly
evolving at the point of use and need to be developed by those at
the “tip of the spear”.
What’s slick today may well get you
killed tomorrow.
Whether you are a SWAT Cop
on a raid, an armed citizen walking to work, an operator clearing caves in
Afghanistan, or a “motor” cop responding to a silent alarm, your
tactics will be depend on the scenario.
Painting every situation with the same
brush to create a “one size fits all” approach to codified tactics
is just ignorant.
As firearms instructors we
are in the classroom, safely removed from the “front line”.
I may be able to teach better techniques
to shooters from many backgrounds, but to presume I could teach
tactics when I am not out there, would just be arrogant.

This picture was featured in
magazines during WWII, and was drawn by my grandfather. It always
struck me as very powerful and I can still remember “stealing” it
off the wall in our house when I was six or seven.
It is my sincere hope that our
training may help those brave Americans in harm’s way return safely to
their families. We are forever indebted to them and they have our
undying gratitude.
Freedom
isn't free. Never forget that.
